Prototec

WALT: We are learning to solve maths problems and set goals.

Goal: Next time I do a prototec math sheet my goal is to score 100% in less time.

Reflection: I think the thing I did well was the equations that included thousands.I think the thing I could work on is completing the prototec math sheet in less time.I think it was hard to find the right answers for the equations that included thousands.I think it was easy to solve the questions where you add or subtract from 20 at the end.

Question:Do you enjoy prototec maths sheets? why or why not?

Project energise with Morgana

WALT : We are learning to keep healthy and active

Reflection:
On Monday we had our project energiser Morgana come and teach us some new games to keep us healthy and active. My favourite part was when we warmed up by playing a new game where Morgana would call out commands like right, left, down and up when she called out right or left we would circle a cone going in those directions when she called out cone the first one to grab the cone won. Then she added commands like down and up.The hard part was trying not to run into anyone. And the easy part was doing the commands quickly.

Question:
If you have project energise sessions whats your favourite part?

My Speech

WALT : We are learning to write a persuasive speech

Introduction

Kia ora my name is Liv and my speech is about whether pets deserve the same care as humans…...

I will be talking about pet cruelty, pet heroes, how we can change the way pets are treated and about how pets have feelings just like humans.

1 / Pet heroes

Pets are very loyal and save their owners’ lives all the time. There are many stories of pets saving lives that a lot of people aren’t aware of. Even my great auntie was saved by her dog when she was drowning at the bottom of her pool when she was 5 years old.

Other stories of pets saving lives include a story of a dog named Sky who gave her life to rescue her owner from 2 sharks by jumping into the water to rescue him, also one about a cockatiel named Dylan that saved his owner from a terrible house fire. These are just some stories of pets saving lives. Believe it or not, pets are saving lives all the time!

2 / Pet cruelty

Just stop and think, would you like to be on the streets drenched with no food or water? No, neither would I. Do you enjoy a warm home with everything you need? Well so do they.

Some pets don’t get enough amounts of food or water and a warm home, not to mention that they don’t get any exercise nor lots of attention.

Cruelty and abuse towards pets has to stop. Some pets are abandoned by their previous owners. Approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized every year because shelters are too full and there are not enough adoptive homes. Some pets are put into horrible factories where they are crammed into cages and treated terribly.

Estimated about 30 million dogs and 10 million cats are killed for the meat trade every year. There are even asian dog meat festivals. How would you feel if your pet ended up on someone's plate? People need to start making a difference and need to stop harming the harmless.

3 / Pets have Feelings too

Pets can make you happy, excited, nervous and sad and they feel all these feelings too. If you're upset, your pet will know and will try to make you happy. And if you're nervous, your pet can make you excited. You make your pets happy, excited, sad and nervous too.

When you haven’t seen your pet in a long time, it’s an exciting and happy moment for them too. You can hurt your pets feelings by not giving them enough attention or by not having enough time to care for them.So if they’re always there for us, why aren’t we there for them? We could be there for them by giving them the love and respect they deserve.

4 / Conclusion

I have a rabbit named Snowball, my sister has a guinea pig named Oreo and we also have a family dog named Bruce so I know that pets are a lot of work but it’s all worth it in the end. We could change how pets are treated! Learning how to treat pets could be part of the learning curriculum at schools worldwide. Or you could help by volunteering at a rescue center like the SPCA. Everyone can make a difference...Even if that means adopting a pet from a shelter or volunteering at a shelter... everything helps!!!

So back to my initial question: “Do you think pets deserve the same care as humans?I think they absolutely do!”

Thank you for listening to my speech.

Reflection:
I found it hard to complete a speech in 3 weeks because I didn't have much time.
I found it easy to find facts to put in my speech because I researched my topic a lot.
My favourite part was presenting my speech to my class because I got to share my learning with others.

Question:
What do you enjoy about writing persuasive speeches?
