2019 Learning Reflections

This slide deck is a reflection about my learning in 2019.

Paddle Boarding with Joe and Scotty

2  weeks ago Te Manga went paddle boarding at Lake Ngatu with Sup bros when we got there my group was the first group on the paddle board Scotty and Joe showed  us how to hold are paddles.

Camp 2019

The highlight of my camp was the first time I went down the
slippery water slide I sat at the top and cold water sprayed at
my face. I slipped  down super fast and touched the bean
bag on my first try. 

My other highlight of camp was playing at the beach and  digging holes in the sand and making gigantic sand castles. It was fun making a bridge across the creek so we could cross to the other side.

Maths strategy's

We are learning to use different strategy's to solve subtraction and addition equations.

Can you explain how you have learnt your new knowledge?

I have learnt how to use new strategy's like splitting strategy and rounding and compensating on our class site to solve new equations .

What other ways could you practice your new learning?

using the class site to learn new strategy's for harder equations.

How would you teach your new knowledge to another learner?

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2019

Today Te Manga and 8 students from Te Kauru went to the Manaiakalani Film Festival 2019 we walked up the red carpet and  into the cinema I was really nervous but excited to see and hear myself on the big screen.The other schools that were there were Ahipara,Taipa,kaingaroa,Pompallier,Mangonui,Oruaiti and Kaitaia intermediate.I really enjoyed watching the other schools films.when all the films were finished we went to McDonald's I got a frozen coke it was really good.

Rugby World Cup - Canada

Duffy Theatre-Magic Bricks

Duffy was excited because he was going to his cousin Sam's house for the holidays.When he got there Sam was ignoring him and was playing the game Magic bricks he was bored so he asked Sam if she wanted to go play tag or read a book he writ called codes and hacks for magic bricks but Sam said theirs no point reading a book about the game when you can play it reading is soooo boring.Then Duffy tried to get Sam's attention so he put on there Nana's glasses and did the dumpling dance then all of a sudden there was a loud whoooosh and Duffy got sucked into the Magic bricks game.   

Sam said Duffy where are you nervously, Duffy said I think i'm in the game Then a LOUD computer voice said "CHOOSE YOUR SKIN"a coat hanger popped up Duffy put on the mussel suit. Duffy knew to win the game you build towers using the blocks.So he built a tower using the blocks next some music started playing the dismantler came walking to Duffy a Dismantler is a monster in the game that you needed to stay away from or it will destroy your tower the Dismantler the Dismantler dismantled Duffy's tower.     

       

Rugby World Cup 2019

In Te Manga we have been learning about the Rugby World Cup . The rugby world cup is a mens rugby tournament  held every four years.

My Rugby World Cup country is Canada. Here are some of the facts I have learnt about my rugby world cup country.

1. The population of Canada in 2019 is 37,541,977 
2. The capital city in Canada is Ottawa 
3. Canada's main languages are french and English 
4. one of Canada's most famous foods is poutine. Poutine is French fries in brown gravy and cheese curd. 

  Yesterday we had a rugby world cup dress up I dressed up red and white with my countries flag. Here are some photos of our rugby world cup dress up.

Severe	Something very bad and intense.
Aorere	Aorere is a college in new zealand.
Region	An area or part of a place.
Havoc	Something very damaged.
Damaged	Damaged is something very destructoid.

Tornadoes

Tornadoes are spinning cylinders made of air that can be very dangerous 

tornadoes only last an hour or so. we don’t get much 

Tornadoes in new zealand but when we do they are horrible and can cause a lot of damage there was strong a tornado in Auckland 20 people were injured.    

The Great Reading Adventure Assembly

On Friday Te Tinana and Te Manga did an assembly about the Great Reading Adventure we walked up to the Whare I was a character from Harry Potter my costume was a black cloak with the Hogwarts symbol I also had a shiny gold wand.

When everyone had their costumes on the assembly started I was really nervous at the start of the assembly. The first part was about Scruffy/Kaydee thinking reading was boring so Duffy/Arahia took scruffy on the great reading adventure!

The first scene was Cat in the Hat. Cat in the hat was Hori and Thing 1 and Thing 2 were Alani and Awhitia they came out to the Pink Panther theme song. Alani and Awhi were wearing puffy red wigs that was my favourite scene everybody was laughing loudly.

Liv Term 3 Learning Goals

First Draft - NZ Playhouse The hare and the Tortoise

Today NZ playhouse entertained us with a exciting show called The Hare and the Tortoise. My favourite character was the piped piper because each actor played as that character once or more times. My other favourite character was the ginger bread man also known as G-man or biscuit boy. This story teaches us to always help other people and to be kind. My favourite part in this story was when the hare thought he was going to win the race so he took a nap and the tortoise won I also liked it when the ginger bread man and the hare competed in a race I really enjoyed this show and I hope NZ Playhouse will come back to Paparore school soon.  

   

Fathers Day Writing

 

For fathers Day we made google drawings for our Dads I enjoyed making fathers Day cards. and even though my Dad didn't win the caught being a good dad award I think he's the best dad ever. 

Film Making With Harley

 We learnt The different roles in a film crew. 

Director , Camera men , Sound operator , Clipper Clapper person, actors . I Was a sound operator a director and a clipper clapper person.

We also learnt the sequence of shots in a film 

first the establishing shot , wide shot , medium close-up , close-up , extreme close-up.

Making Puddles- Our Water Cycle Experiment

WALT explain what happens when water evaporates

What was our hypothesis?we think that puddles will evaporate faster in the sun than in the shade.

Describe what we did?

1. Alani tipped 2L of water on the concrete to make a puddle in the sun.

2. Me Cleo and Reina drew around the puddle with chalk and Anahera took a picture
3. we waited for 15 minutes to check the puddle to see how much it evaporated.

What happened?

both puddles were evaporating but the one in the sun was evaporating faster.

Think about which puddles disappeared faster

the puddle in the sun evaporated before the one on the shade.

What caused the water to disappear
the puddle in the sun evaporated first because the sun is very important in the water cycle the sun makes the water evaporate into the sky and after 10 days the water falls down again.

Fathers Day Writing

Ka Pai Kai with Whaea Anna

WALT cook healthy food with Whaea Anna.She is teaching us all about healthy eating.


My group is Riley Lara Koda Edward and we are going to make spaghetti bolognese.


Our recipe needs olive oil,onion,carrots,beef stock,salt and pepper.


The equipment we will use is a spatula a frying pan a pot and a bowl we also need forks and knifes.


I am looking forward to learning how to cook delicious healthy kai with Whaea Anna .      

Liv and Kaydee's Amazing Water Facts

We are learning all about water this term.we have already found out some amazing water facts! Did you know 66% of our body is made of water and a elephant can smell water up to 5 kilometers away.

I felt really nervous knowing that I would have to post this on my blog for everyone to see but I think me and my partner did a great job thanks for watching hope you liked it. 

Te Ahu Cinema The Lion King - First Draft

On Thursday Te manga and Te Tinana went to Te Ahu cinema to see the lion king as went hoped on the bus I was so excited I nearly fell over.  I walked in it got darker and darker me and Cleo walked up the stairs. We sat on the second to last row then the movie started the start was really sad because Mufasa died trying to save Simba from a stampede.Scar pushed him of instead of saving him and then everyone thought it was Simba who killed Mufasa scar told Simba to run away Simba found a beautiful tropical jungle and started running towards Pumba the warthog and Timon the Meerkat but then Pumba said if you want to stay on the island you have to eat bugs and grubs he said they were slimy but satisfying so Simba ate one he said they were slimy but satisfying then Simba said he did something terrible so then Timon said all you have to think is Hakuna Matata because it means no worries then they started singing Hakuna Matata that was my favourite part. Simba grew older and older then Nala his best friend from when he was a kid came and said how they were in trouble did you know Nala's voice is beyonce. At first Simba refused then he realised that if he didn't his mother and Nala would be in danger so then he went to stop scar the jungle was in danger

Wonderful Sentences

I have been learning how to copy and paste from our class writing flip charts to share our learning. I know how to insert bullet points and use the highlighting tool.

We know that wonderful sentences need:

• detail (elaboration)
• capital letters and full stops
• Punctuation (, ! ? “ “)
• quality vocab - WOW words

WALT recognise different parts of speech.

Nouns are naming words. eg. chair, book, July, Awhi

Adjectives describe nouns Eg. wooden chair, writing book, freezing July, lovely Awhi

Verbs are doing words Eg run, walk, jump, skip, chew

Adverbs describe verbs. Eg. briskly running, slowly walking, jumping high, skipping happily and chewing noisily.

Example: 

The bird is angry. 

The temperamental bird dashed to a tree branch and sat there frozen. 

 The cat is sad.

The black furry cat is super sad because it's kittens are going to be taken away.It sadly stares at them.

Tuna Kuwharuwharu (Longfin Eel)

This term we have been learning all about the longfin eel.

Our assembly item was based on the story Velvet and Elvis.this was a story about the migration journey that the longfin eel takes.

my topic about the challenges to the longfin eel. Whaea Deb took a photo of my poster.

I felt very nervous knowing that I would have to post this on my blog for everyone to see. Today I learnt how to embed a video onto my blog.I felt funny having to read to my chrome book.

Our Trip To Waitangi

Last Tuesday I had to get to school really early because Te Manga was going to Waitangi to learn how to use different technology. As the bus stopped I felt nervous but excited I walked out of the bus and looked throw the museum window I got a glimpse of the inside it was mind blowing. then we walked to the learning centre first you had to walk throw a room it was an art gallery based on Antarctica there were some beautiful paintings everywhere some had whales on them and some were paintings of shipwrecks I loved the different colours and drawings.After that we walked into the learning centre I saw different coloured fluro bean bags and rainbow cushions I walked to the mat and sat on a rainbow cushion first we had a korero about our daily timetable.

A few minutes later Catilyn walked in she showed us some ancient Maori rocks some were spiky and some were smooth.Next we went on scratch and made some amazing short films about eels we made our eels on paint 3D mine was silver it blended in with my background perfectly to make our eels move we used code some codes were long and complicated and some were short I found working out a code tricky because we had to make our eels move across the page and we had to make our sprites say at least 3 things.

About half an hour later we went for a play in the reserve the sun was shining and all the kids were having fun this was one of the most stunning days ever.After that we walked back to the learning centre. I've had a great time in Waitangi but sadly it's time to go home.   

             

My Holiday

In the Holidays we went to Whangarei to pick up my own cute baby bunny.First we went To Whangarei pools it was so fun I spent most of my time in the wave pool the waves were massive Faye
went on the water slide and convinced me to go on it was terrifying.Then we went to the park I went on the monkey bars and kept falling off I thought come on if Teo can do it I can too.After that we went to a Thai restraunt I got chicken fried rice,pork dumplings and a ice cream sundae.Next we went to the pet shop to get a cage for my rabbit,after that we went to pick up my bunny as I held it in my arms I felt faint it was so cute and calm it was white and fluffy with bright blue eyes,then we went home.

Happy Mothers day 15/5/19

Liv Gala writing 10.04.19

Yay ... I jumped out of bed it’s the day of the paparore school Gala!!! I hurried into the kitchen and scoffed down my breakfast. Mum,Teo,Faye and my Auntie woke up got changed and ate breakfast we rushed into the car. Once we got there mum parked the car then we hopped out and ran to the ticket Booth. Mum gave me 20$ tickets I first went to the climbing wall. It was nearly my turn I was wearing a tight harness as I climbed to the top I had sweaty palms. It was sooo scary I took a sigh of relief as I pressed the button, yes I did it!!! Then I went on the bungee jump as I waited for my turn I was wearing a tight harness.It wasn't really scary but is was really fun. Next I went on the merry go round with Teo. This year at the gala there was a pumpkin growing competition the heaviest pumpkin wins. Jackson came First place Jamie came second and Kiarn came third They looked massive and very heavy. There was also A canteen I had a icy cold fizzy drink and some sweets.I got a henna tattoo It had nice details and designs.Then We went home.I can’t wait for next years gala.
